A few weeks ago, I shared coyote making a “scrape” site — peeing on the ground and digging at the forest floor with its rear paws to mark its territory with scent glands. Here’s a bobcat making its own scrape site up the hill:
The footage isn’t great, since the bobcat was some distance away and behind some vegetation. But if you look closely you can see the steam rising where it peed. It’s cool to see where the animals are establishing their message boards.
BONUS CLIP: Here’s the little bear that’s been making the rounds lately. I think I saw it in the driveway the other day, but it ran off as soon as I opened the door. Then again, the driveway bear seemed quite small, and I glimpsed a pink ear tag … hard to say.
